Setting a record this year—for use of coal! From Robert Bryce’s substack column:
“Last Friday, two days after the COP28 meeting in Dubai ended, the International Energy Agency reported that global coal demand will set another new record this year. Use of the carbon-heavy fuel in Western countries is falling, the IEA said, but demand in emerging and developing economies “remains very strong, increasing by 8% in India and by 5% in China in 2023 due to rising demand for electricity and weak hydropower output.”
How to Bypass Resistance to Wind and Solar—Pass a Law. From Nick Pope of the Daily Caller:
“Several blue states have deprived rural counties of the ability to reject the massive green energy projects that corporations want to site in their communities, while green industrial interests and environmentalist groups have poured money into state capitals.”
Keeping an eye on your money (billion by billion). From Jeff St. John of Canary Media.
“The initial award of nearly $1 billion in rebates was enough to order around 2,300 electric school buses to be distributed among 372 school districts across the country. Through 2026, the Clean School Bus Program, created by the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will disburse a total of $5 billion— he single biggest investment of its kind.
“One year later, some of the buses financed by the first billion-dollar installment are already running daily routes. But not all—or even the majority — are on the road yet, and some school districts are struggling to keep up with the process of using the money.”
